Construction - LitterMaid Optimization
Here are the materials and tools you'll need to build an improved LitterMaid:
- Four (4) empty Purina Maxx Scoop 7kg litter containers (or similar litter containers);
- one standard LitterMaid waste receptacle and its lid (the last LitterMaid waste receptacle that you'll ever need);
- some black electrician's tape;
- scissors;
- a flat-topped box about the same height as the litter containers.
Take three (3) of the empty litter containers, remove the lids, arrange the containers as shown in the image, and tape them together with some electrician's tape.
Now remove the lid of the final, fourth empty litter container, cut a 4-inch by 8-inch hole at the edge of the lid, and reattach the lid to the container. For Purina Maxx Scoop lids, this is really easy - just cut along the "hinge" line in the lid. Keep the cut piece for later, to reattach once this litter container is full of used litter.
The last step is to take a standard LitterMaid waste receptacle, and cut a matching 4-inch by 8-inch hole in the bottom of the receptacle. Throw away this cut-out piece. To help guide this hole together with the one in the top of the litter container, I like to leave two little bent-over flaps at the sides of this cutout.
Now we're ready to assemble the improved LitterMaid.
