Apple rejects suicidal 'Mac OS X on a Dell' option

filed under Hardware

While Dell, unsurprisingly, would love to add 5% to its volume by stamping out mid-quality grey boxes that run Mac OS X, Apple has decided not to participate in its own pointless death.

Non-emulated Windows on a Mac? Sure, why not. Mac OS X on an off the shelf Dell box? Unlikely, for the moment. However, the Macworld article makes the point that Apple may be sued to force its software to run on generic Intel boxes. I'm sure we all recall the suit against Data General, splitting its Nova software from proprietary hardware? No? The Soul of a New Machine... what do you mean, you weren't born then, damn you?
