Wil Shipley: How To Succeed Writing Mac Software

filed under CodingTips

Wil Shipley, designer of uber-app Delicious Library, spoke with the Apple scholarship students at WWDC 2005. His talk, titled 'How to Succeed Writing Mac Software', is linked as a PDF here.

Shipley states, 'Follow my advice and I promise that you will be successful, happy, fulfilled, and drive a hot car'. He makes the great point that Windows users, by their choice of OS, have shown they are comfortable only with the market leader. Guess what, if you're an independent software vendor, that ain't you.

Fun comments on:

  • Starting your own company: do you mind living in a box down by the river? no, then you might be an entrepreneur!
  • Employees: ungrateful wretches, or useless wastes of space
